Job description

Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Subject Matter Expert

Location: Offutt AFB, NE / STRATCOM

Minimum Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI

This position requires a Top Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance to be considered. U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position necessitates an active U.S. Government Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens are not eligible to obtain a U.S. security clearance. The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations, and illegal drug use.

As an ICBM SME, you will provide senior-level expertise in intercontinental ballistic missile operations and integration. This role requires a seasoned officer with extensive experience in intercontinental ballistic missile operations, combined with headquarters-level planning exposure. The selected candidate will advise senior leaders, support operational planning, and contribute to strategic power integration across joint and national-level efforts.

Who You Are and What You Need:

  • An active, fully-adjudicated TS/SCI clearance.
  • A Master's degree or higher in any discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 years' combined Intercontinental Ballistic Missile and Space experience as an officer.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working at Office of the Secretary of War, Joint Staff, CCMD, service, numbered fleet command, or equivalent.
  • Joint Professional Military Education Phase 2 graduate required.
  • Senior Service School required.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an Operations Center required.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide subject matter expertise on ballistic missile submarine operations, capabilities, and employment concepts.
  • Support development of strategic and operational-level plans integrating ballistic missile submarine forces into joint campaigns.
  • Lead and support development of operational plans and planning products.
  • Translate strategic guidance into executable operational approaches and courses of action.
  • Apply the Joint Planning Process (JPP/JOPP) to develop operational plans, campaign plans, OPLANs, and CONPLANs.
  • Support joint and senior-level planning forums.
  • Coordinate across headquarters elements to synchronize planning efforts.
  • Develop briefs, planning documents, and decision support materials for senior leaders.
  • Develop executive-ready briefing materials and decision-support products.
  • Provide expert advice on operational design, force employment, and mission execution.
  • Brief General Officer (GO) and Senior Executive Service (SES) leadership in executive-level decision forums.
  • Other duties as required by Program Manager.
