Workers use specialized equipment to detect utilities and provide accurate markings to ensure safe digging. It's a crucial role in construction, infrastructure maintenance, and public safety.

What does a Miss Dig do?

A typical day for a Miss Dig Utility Locator involves traveling to various job sites to identify and mark the locations of underground utilities using specialized equipment. You'll spend much of your time outdoors, interacting with contractors, homeowners, and sometimes municipal crews to ensure excavation projects don't damage critical infrastructure. Coordinating with dispatchers and updating digital records of your findings is also common. The role offers variety and autonomy, but also requires excellent time management and consistent attention to detail. Over time, experienced locators may have opportunities to move into supervisory roles or safety training positions.
