Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Operations Technician Miss Dig supports the Operations department with a variety of field duties within the assigned geographic area.
Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Correctly complete locating requests meeting timeline requirements.

  • Complete proper documentation of locating requests.

  • Coordinate third party pipeline crossing inspections.

  • Participate in the damage prevention awareness program.

  • Maintain knowledge of Miss Dig Underground Facility Damage Prevention and Safety Act

  • Assist in other operational departments as required, which may include inspection, leak survey and collections.

  • Assist in the maintenance of gas distribution systems.

  • Adhere to all company internal control procedures and financial processes.

  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field.


Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • High School Diploma or GED required, supplemented with college courses or vocational training in drafting, surveying, electrical circuits wiring or another related field.

  • 2 to 4 years of gas distribution experience required.

  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License and eligible for Company provided vehicle insurance.

  • Working knowledge of basic mechanical & electrical principles, preferred

  • Must be capable of completing Operator Qualification Program.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, in addition to strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers, coworkers, and leadership.

  • knowledge of various personal computer business software applications presently used by the Company. Ability to learn new systems or software packages as necessary.

  • Ability to maintain a safe environment through adherence to established safety standards and timely reporting of potential hazards. Good analytical and organizational skills.

  • Must adhere to Company policies and procedures related to the code of business ethics, compliance, responsible use of Company assets, and all applicable state and federal laws.

Working Environment

This position is performed primarily in a field setting involving exposure to temperature, dust, noise, etc., and requires the use of personal protective equipment. The incumbent is required to work in confined spaces, on ladders and in adverse weather conditions. Duties involve driving, sitting, bending, stooping, walking, climbing, crawling, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, digging, operating heavy equipment, fine finger movement and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.

Salary

We offer a competitive salary range of $26.83 to $32.20 per hour,commensurate with experience, education, and skills. We are also proud to provide a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off. Compensation may vary by geographic location.
