Job description

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Miscellaneous Steel Detailer with 5+ years of detailing experience. The ideal candidate has a strong background in miscellaneous metals (stairs, railings, ladders, canopies, embeds, etc.) and a solid understanding of building codes, AISC standards, and industry-standard detailing practices.

You will work closely with project managers, fabricators, and field crews to produce accurate 2D and 3D models, shop drawings, and erection drawings that support smooth fabrication and installation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed shop drawings and 3D models for miscellaneous steel projects.
  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings.
  • Coordinate with project managers and fabrication teams to verify constructability.
  • Integrate field measurements and point-cloud data into shop drawings.
  • Troubleshoot, design, and fabrication challenges proactively.
  • Maintain drawing accuracy and deadlines across multiple projects.
  • Provide mentorship or technical support to junior detailers as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • 5+ years of steel detailing experience (Miscellaneous Metals strongly preferred).
  • Strong understanding of building codes, AISC standards, and standard detailing practices.
  • Ability to read and coordinate structural and architectural drawings with minimal oversight.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred / Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with Autodesk, Inventor, Advance Steel.
  • Experience with FARO scanning and point-cloud data integration (major plus).
  • Familiarity with shop workflows, fabrication processes, and field installation.
  • Ability to produce highly constructible shop drawings with minimal revisions.
