Ministry Assistants are individuals who provide support to church leaders, pastors, or ministry teams in administrative, organizational, and sometimes pastoral tasks. Their responsibilities may include coordinating events, managing communications, assisting with worship services, and supporting congregation members. Ministry Assistants help ensure that church operations run smoothly and that ministry goals are achieved. The specific duties can vary based on the size of the church and the needs of the ministry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a ministry assistant?

To thrive as a Ministry Assistant, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in administrative support, often with experience in church or nonprofit settings. Familiarity with office software, church management systems, and basic accounting tools is typically required. Job description

Assistant Director of Student Ministry - Ministry Leadeship Center

At Asbury United Methodist Church, we believe students need more than great programs—they need caring adults who know them, encourage them, and help them grow in their relationship with Jesus. If you're looking for the opportunity to invest in a thriving student ministry of more than 100 students, serve alongside a healthy leadership team, and build a life in one of the Birmingham area's most desirable communities, we'd love to meet you.

We're seeking a relational, spiritually grounded Assistant Director of Student Ministry whose faith shapes the way they lead and serve. Working alongside our Director, this person will use strong relational and organizational gifts to build authentic relationships with middle and high school students, partner with parents, equip volunteers, and help create a welcoming community where every student feels seen, included, and challenged in their faith.

Asbury is a vibrant, mission-minded church with the reach and resources of one of the larger United Methodist churches in the country while maintaining a culture of genuine connection. Relationships are at the heart of who we are, and our staff, ministry leaders, and volunteers work collaboratively to support one another and celebrate what God is doing through the church.

Located in Homewood, just minutes from downtown Birmingham, Asbury offers the best of both worlds—a close-knit community with excellent restaurants, parks, coffee shops, and local businesses, plus an affordable cost of living, outdoor recreation, SEC sports, and a growing population of young families.

If one is a collaborative leader who loves students, values relationships over programs, and is looking for a place to invest long-term, we'd love to begin a conversation. Please apply.
