Data Engineering Specialist

Systems Integration, Inc. (SII) is a leading provider of customer experience, data analytics and digital transformation solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated BI & Data Engineering Specialist to support the FBI's ITBI (IT Business Intelligence) initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen and demonstrate the ability to work independently across multiple FBI Divisions, Sections, and Units. This role requires effective collaboration at all levels within the Bureau and demands excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and analyze BI end-user requirements; assess technical feasibility to inform software design and performance solutions.
  • Design, implement, execute, and debug manual and automated test cases using diverse testing techniques.
  • Perform detailed data analysis, tracing data elements from source through transformation to target.
  • Develop relational and multidimensional data models; optimize data-mining performance using tools such as Erwin.
  • Build and deploy BI reporting and ETL solutions using best practices; identify and resolve data quality issues.
  • Design and code new software or enhance existing systems; integrate into operational environments.
  • Collaborate with reporting teams to optimize ETL/data pipeline processes aligned with business needs.
  • Ensure sensitive content is secured in compliance with regulatory and legal standards.
  • Document all phases of development including requirements gathering, database diagrams, source-to-target mappings, and technical specifications.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on BI/ETL best practices.
  • Participate in on-call production support on a rotating basis.
  • Qualifications:
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Requires a Top-Secret clearance (SCI/Poly may be required later).
  • Proficiency in Power BI
  • Expertise in writing complex SQL statements, stored procedures, triggers, and views
  • Experience extracting data from heterogeneous sources
  • Strong foundation in data warehousing and reporting platforms with ability to recommend and implement best practices
  • Familiarity with Oracle, SQL Server, Cognos, and Tableau (or similar tools)
  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing and data integration services
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working in Agile development and cloud environments is a plus
  • Bachelor's degree is required in information systems, computer science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience supporting projects of similar size and scope.
