Position Summary:
The Environmental Field Technician will assist in monitoring and managing environmental impact in the field. This role involves collecting and analyzing environmental data, ensuring compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and company standards, and supporting environmental management programs. The technician will work closely with environmental engineers, safety officers, and field personnel to maintain the company's environmental integrity.
Job Responsibilities:
The Environmental Field Technician will be responsible for the following:
  • Field Data Collection: Conduct environmental sampling (e.g., ore, water, soil) and conduct inspections at various locations within the mining operation.
  • Monitoring: Regularly monitor environmental conditions, including dust control, water quality, and biodiversity, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records of environmental conditions, sampling results, and compliance reports.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and mining permits. Assist in preparing permits and documents for environmental assessments.
  • Environmental Assessments: Conduct site inspections to assess environmental risks and identify areas for improvement.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to and promote health and safety standards while performing environmental field tasks, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Environmental Programs Support: Assist in the implementation of environmental management programs such as waste management, reclamation, and biodiversity conservation.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with environmental consultants, regulators, and other departments to resolve environmental issues or concerns.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze environmental data and prepare reports to support decision-making and compliance initiatives.
Emergency Response: Support environmental emergency response efforts in case of spills, contamination, or other unforeseen events, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations (e.g., MPCA,EPA standards, local mining regulations), environmental testing methods, and safety standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, ability to work independently and in a team, excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field, or relevant experience in environmental management or fieldwork.
  • Previous experience in environmental monitoring or fieldwork, preferably in the mining or natural resource industries.
Salary
  • $28 - $32/hr, depending on experience and qualifications.
