Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Cheney, Washington | Manufacturing Environment


A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a hands-on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and strengthen safety, environmental, and compliance initiatives at its manufacturing facility in Cheney, WA.

This is a highly visible role for someone who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, building a strong safety culture, and partnering with operations and leadership to drive continuous improvement while ensuring regulatory compliance.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead all environmental, health, and safety programs for a busy manufacturing facility
  • Maintain a strong on-site presence across plant operations, including future support for additional shifts
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Ensure compliance with Washington State Labor & Industries (L&I/WISHA), OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Conduct hazard assessments, incident investigations, safety audits, and corrective actions
  • Manage injury reporting, workers' compensation claims, OSHA/WISHA recordkeeping, and return-to-work programs
  • Oversee environmental compliance, including hazardous materials, waste management, air quality, and chemical safety
  • Maintain SDS documentation and required environmental records
  • Partner with operations, engineering, and leadership to improve safety performance across the facility
  • Serve as a visible, hands-on safety leader on the manufacturing floor
  • Lead site safety committees and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support emergency preparedness, business continuity, and site security planning
  • Participate in employee onboarding and ensure all required safety training is completed
  • Collaborate with EHS leaders across multiple facilities to standardize best practices


What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Relevant education or certification
  • Previous EHS experience in manufacturing, industrial, construction, or similar environments
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and Washington State (WISHA/L&I) safety regulations
  • Experience developing and managing comprehensive safety programs
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in industrial or metal manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with cranes, forklifts, welding operations, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, working at heights, and paint operations
  • Knowledge of environmental permitting and chemical regulatory requirements
  • Experience managing workers' compensation, OSHA/WISHA recordkeeping, hearing conservation, and return-to-work programs
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis, Hierarchy of Controls, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • CSP or SMS certification
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or ISO 9001 auditing experience or certification
