Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

  • We offer a 7-on, 7-off schedule that consists of one week of alternating 12-hour day and nights shifts followed by one week off, offering a great work-life balance with ample time for rest and personal activities.
    1. Initial laborers will be put on a 4 10s and a 8 schedule working Monday to Friday until space on a rotating shift crew becomes available.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Processing Laborer, you will be working on the Processing Ops team to perform general laborer cleanup duties around the processing plant equipment and travel areas.

  • Demonstrate commitment to safety and Capstone’s Values in Action.
  • Perform general labor duties, including but not limited to:
  • Vehicle inspections and basic upkeep on light vehicles, flatbed, skidsteers, and vac trucks.
  • Cleaning with shovel/wheelbarrow
  • Washing down floors with high pressure hose open and close valves
  • Participate in training when on 7X7 shift rotation learning initial area tasks.
  • Actively participate in line-out and safety meetings, contributing to safety discussions and operational efficiency.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Entry-level position - no previous mining work experience is required.
  • Ability to safely perform assigned job tasks.
  • Willingness to go to a shift crew and start learning the plant once on a shift rotation.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, including walking up and down stairs, across uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to work in both hot and cold environments with high humidity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. for 100ft
  • Ability to seldom lift 100 lbs. from ankle to waist
  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read and write in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License.
  • Previous experience performing related work in a safety-sensitive environment, such as the construction, mining, manufacturing, farming, delivery or transportation industries.

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty’. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
