Help define the future of Minecraft's creator ecosystem and the role creators play in the franchise's long-term growth.
Minecraft is seeking a Director, Creator Programs & Ecosystem Marketing to set the global marketing strategy for creator acquisition, engagement, advocacy, and success across Minecraft's creator programs and opportunities.
This senior leader will establish the user generated creator ecosystem narrative, translate creator and market insight into multi-year priorities, and align leaders across Creator, Marketplace, Product, Platform, Business Development, Analytics, and Marketing around a shared growth agenda.
The role will drive scalable programs and strategic partnerships that expand participation, elevate creator-made content, and strengthen the connection between creators, players, and the Minecraft franchise. Success will be measured through ecosystem growth, stronger creator outcomes, and clear business impact.
Responsibilities
Set the Global Creator Ecosystem Marketing Strategy
• Define the multi-year marketing vision, strategic priorities, audience approach, and investment roadmap for Minecraft's creator ecosystem.
• Translate franchise, business, creator, player, and market insights into clear choices that expand creator participation and improve creator success.
• Establish the strategic narrative and decision frameworks that connect creator opportunities across programs, platforms, Marketplace, and franchise initiatives.
Lead Cross-Functional Alignment and Executive Decision-Making
• Serve as the senior marketing partner to Creator, Marketplace, Product, Platform, Business Development, Analytics, Community, and franchise marketing leaders.
• Build alignment across complex and sometimes competing priorities, surface tradeoffs, and drive decisions that advance the overall health of the creator ecosystem.
• Represent creator ecosystem strategy in senior leadership forums and translate decisions into clear direction for cross-functional teams.
Build a Scalable Creator Growth and Engagement Portfolio
• Architect an integrated portfolio of acquisition, onboarding, education, activation, recognition, advocacy, and retention programs across the creator lifecycle.
• Drive repeatable operating models, playbooks, and partner motions that can scale across creator segments, regions, programs, and franchise moments.
• Identify portfolio gaps and incubate new programs that reduce barriers, broaden participation, and strengthen long-term creator relationships.
Own Creator Ecosystem Positioning, Narrative, and Thought Leadership
• Set the overarching messaging and positioning for Minecraft's creator programs, opportunities, and ecosystem value proposition.
• Guide creator-facing storytelling, showcases, events, and community moments that elevate creators and make creator participation visible and compelling.
• Partner with Marketing, Communications, Social, Influencer, Community, and Marketplace teams to ensure a coherent global narrative while enabling channel teams to execute effectively.
Shape Strategic Partnerships and Franchise-Level Creator Opportunities
• Develop the strategy for high-impact partnerships connecting creators, influencers, community leaders, and ecosystem partners with Minecraft opportunities.
• Influence creator integration across Marketplace initiatives, server programs, franchise moments, and platform priorities without assuming ownership of player-facing launches.
• Evaluate opportunities based on strategic fit, creator value, player relevance, scalability, and long-term ecosystem impact.
Establish Measurement, Governance, and Business Accountability
• Define success measures and an insight agenda for creator acquisition, engagement, advocacy, retention, and creator outcomes in partnership with Analytics and business owners.
• Lead regular business reviews, synthesize performance and ecosystem signals, and recommend changes to strategy, programs, and investment.
• Create governance mechanisms that clarify accountability, improve prioritization, and enable transparent decision-making across the creator portfolio.
Raise Creator Marketing Excellence Across the Organization
• Act as a strategic advisor and subject-matter authority on creator ecosystem marketing, helping teams apply stronger audience, positioning, program design, and measurement practices.
• Mentor marketers and cross-functional partners through influence, establish a high quality bar, and create reusable frameworks that increase organizational capability.
• Model inclusive leadership, sound judgment, and effective navigation of ambiguity in a global, highly visible area of the Minecraft business.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years people management experience or indirect people management experience (or virtual teams)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing go-to-market strategies, positioning, messaging, and audience engagement programs for products, platforms, communities, or ecosystems.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across marketing, product, business, and partner teams.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to translate customer and market insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Experience setting multi-year strategy and leading high-impact, global, or portfolio-level marketing initiatives in a complex organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders, align cross-functional organizations, navigate ambiguity, and drive decisions without direct authority.
  • Experience building and scaling creator, partner, influencer, ambassador, or community programs that drive participation, advocacy, retention, and long-term ecosystem health.
  • Experience working within gaming, creator economy, marketplace, platform-based, or community-driven businesses, including two-sided ecosystems.
  • Experience establishing measurement frameworks, leading business reviews, and using quantitative and qualitative insights to guide strategy and investment decisions.
  • Experience developing executive-level narratives, positioning, and thought leadership for products, platforms, communities, or ecosystems.
