MakerKids is excited to be launching its first Mississauga location! Opening summer 2025, MakerKids Mississauga - South will be MakerKids third location. We're looking for enthusiastic and skilled staff to help bring this new space to life and deliver high quality STEM programming.

About MakerKids
MakerKids runs STEM programs for kids, including Coding, Robotics, and Minecraft. Our mission is to help kids learn essential technical skills in a fun and engaging way. Our programs have been featured in top media outlets like Wired, CTV, and the Globe and Mail.

Role Overview
As a Summer Camp Instructor at MakerKids, you'll teach kids the basics of Coding, Robotics, and Minecraft while keeping the energy high and the learning environment fun. You'll have the opportunity to bring engaging projects to life and help children develop valuable skills in STEM. You will work with kids to foster creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving through hands-on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct kids in Robotics, Coding, and Minecraft programs at beginner and intermediate levels.
  • Facilitate engaging, fun, and interactive lessons that inspire kids to explore technology.
  • Encourage students' growth by guiding them through hands-on projects using tools like Vex IQ kits, microbits, Arduino, and more.
  • Support and guide students in developing their Minecraft worlds with coding elements, Redstone circuits, and design principles.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment for kids ages 6-13.

Location:

  • MakerKids Mississauga South - 1900 Fowler Drive
    (Some off-site locations like schools or community centers may also be included. Ability to drive is not required, but preferred.)

Hours:

  • Seasonal, full-time from Mid June to August
  • Monday to Friday, ranging from 8am-6pm
  • Core camp hours are 9am-3:30pm, with additional hours for camp prep and before/aftercare coordination
  • Part time after school and weekend hours may be available starting in the fall.

What We're Looking For:

  • A university student in engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • Proven interest and basic skills in coding, robotics, and Minecraft
  • Previous experience working with kids (teaching, camps, museums, etc.)
  • Creative, energetic, and passionate about making learning fun
  • Strong communication skills (both written and oral)
