The Opportunity:
Smurfit Westrock Covington Mill is seeking a Maintenance Journeyman Millwright at Covington, VA. This position supports the maintenance and repair of machines and equipment throughout the mill. Assist other crafts and maintenance personnel in the performance of work outside of millwright duties and responsibilities as assigned. Successful applicants will be required to complete training and certification in a second craft.
Job Duties:
  • Participate in all department safety programs.
  • Flexibility to work in a multi-craft role and contribute to accomplishing results in a team-based environment.
  • Good understanding of the types and application of equipment lubrication.
  • Effective troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals & drawings.
  • Ability to properly document repairs and inspections.
  • Computer skills adequate to look up bill of materials & stores parts, enter work results, and complete work orders.
  • Good working knowledge of rigging equipment and techniques.
  • Ability to measure, lay out, and fabricate repair parts.

What you need to succeed:
  • Virginia State approved Journeyman certification or equivalent

Physical requirements:
  • Labor activities
  • Frequent bending
  • Lifting up to 45-50Ibs.
  • Standing on your feet for 12 hours or more a day
