What You’ll Do:

  • Greet customers in person and over the phone with a professional, knowledgeable, and solution-focused approach.
  • Assist contractors, builders, and homeowners with selecting millwork products including interior and exterior doors, windows, moldings, trim, stair parts, columns, and related hardware.
  • Interpret building plans, blueprints, and specifications to generate accurate take-offs and material lists.
  • Prepare detailed quotes and estimates, ensuring pricing accuracy and alignment with project specifications.
  • Process customer orders accurately from quote through delivery, coordinating closely with vendors and internal teams.
  • Manage special orders and custom millwork requests, following up to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain strong product knowledge of millwork lines, manufacturer offerings, and installation best practices.
  • Collaborate with outside sales representatives to support jobsite needs and strengthen customer relationships.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, damages, or discrepancies to management.
  • Maintain an organized, professional showroom and work area that reflects Doug Ashy’s standards.
  • Proactively identify sales opportunities and build lasting customer relationships to grow repeat business.
  • Support cross-training efforts and assist other departments as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager to support the success of the team and business.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service mindset with the ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and project specifications (preferred).
  • Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, square footage, and material quantities.
  • Proficiency with computers and ability to learn point-of-sale, estimating, and inventory systems.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Prior millwork, door & window, lumberyard, or building materials experience preferred.
  • Previous sales, retail, or construction-related experience preferred.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds and perform light physical tasks such as bending, reaching, and organizing materials or displays.
  • Comfortable working in a showroom/office environment with periodic warehouse interaction.
