Job description

Summary:
The job of the assistant project manager is to provide a support role in budgeting, managing, executing, and documenting aspects of the project(s) they are assigned to. They work within other departments to ensure that all reporting and job progress is accurate and on track.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organizes files at the beginning of new jobs and distributes project information to internal departments as needed.
  • Assists the Project Manager with the creation, update, and distribution of the project schedule tracker and material delivery sequence.
  • Uploads and updates budget hours into shop accounting software.
  • Obtains, records, organizes, and distributes revisions and supplements to contract documents.
  • Solicits clarifications of drawings and specifications.
  • Reviews returned submittals.
  • Creates finish sample log and sample request forms for the Submittal Coordinator and requests samples from Purchasing.
  • Processes material approvals and revisions and communicates material changes to the Project Manager and other departments as needed.
  • Assists in administering project documentation, including project drawings, change order requests, and material submittals.
  • Facilitates communication between parties to resolve open issues to keep the project moving forward.
  • Submits shop drawings for approval and provides material product data as required.
  • Participates in weekly job-specific production meetings and work-in-process meetings.
  • Assists with the preparation of monthly billings.
  • Obtains and submits closeout documents.
  • Submits LEED reports.
  • Maintains friendly, cooperative relations with customers, vendors, subcontractors, company personnel, project management team members, and upper management.
  • Performs other tasks or assignments as delegated by the Project Manager or executive management.
  • Follows all Company personnel policies and procedures.

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple jobs/functions.
  • Preferred: General knowledge of millwork, basic understanding of commercial construction.

Experience
  • 2-5 years' experience in a fast-paced work environment, preferably construction or manufacturing
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree
