Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer - Architectural Millwork to lead the technical engineering and development of high-end custom millwork projects. Projects include luxury residential cabinetry, architectural woodwork, closets, casework, countertops, and other custom interior components.

This is a senior-level technical role for an architectural millwork professional who understands how to take complex designs from concept and field dimensions through production-ready engineering and fabrication. The Senior Project Engineer will work closely with design, project management, manufacturing, CNC, and installation teams to ensure every project is accurate, buildable, and executed to a high standard.

The ideal candidate brings extensive architectural millwork experience, advanced drafting and engineering capabilities, and a strong understanding of materials, hardware, joinery, CNC processes, fabrication, and installation. While project management experience is valuable, the primary focus of this position is technical engineering and manufacturing execution.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the engineering and technical development of custom architectural millwork projects from design through fabrication and installation.
  • Create, review, and maintain detailed shop drawings, production drawings, cut information, and engineering documentation.
  • Translate architectural plans, design intent, specifications, and field measurements into accurate, production-ready engineering packages.
  • Engineer custom cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, and other specialty interior components.
  • Support CNC programming, manufacturing processes, material optimization, and production planning.
  • Review designs for constructability, manufacturability, material requirements, hardware compatibility, and installation considerations.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional issues, material challenges, and manufacturing concerns before they reach production.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers, designers, CAD teams, production personnel, CNC operators, installers, and shop leadership.
  • Ensure engineering packages meet internal quality standards and provide the information required for efficient fabrication and field installation.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to CAD designers, drafters, and junior engineering team members.
  • Support quality assurance throughout the engineering, manufacturing, and installation process.
  • Help develop and improve engineering standards, drawing practices, production workflows, and technical procedures.
  • Participate in project reviews and provide technical solutions for complex custom millwork conditions.

Requirements

  • Extensive architectural millwork engineering, drafting, or technical design experience, preferably in a senior-level role.
  • Strong background in high-end or luxury residential architectural millwork.
  • Demonstrated experience engineering custom cabinetry, casework, closets, countertops, architectural woodwork, or similar custom products.
  • Advanced ability to create detailed shop drawings and production-ready drawings for manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming workflows, fabrication processes, and production requirements.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or similar architectural millwork and manufacturing software.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, construction documents, design details, and field measurements.
  • Thorough knowledge of millwork materials, hardware, joinery, construction methods, fabrication techniques, and installation practices.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing and shop teams to resolve technical and production issues.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to designers, drafters, or engineering team members is preferred.
  • Luxury residential construction or custom home experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical priorities while maintaining accuracy and production deadlines.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Opportunity to work on high-end custom residential and architectural millwork projects.
  • Senior-level technical leadership role with significant influence over project execution.
  • Collaborative, craftsmanship-driven, and quality-focused work environment.
  • Long-term career growth and advancement opportunities.
  • Stable pipeline of custom millwork and luxury residential projects.
  • Opportunity to combine advanced engineering expertise with hands-on manufacturing and fabrication knowledge.
