Job description

Specialty Building Products is currently looking for an EWP Designer to join our VALUES based organization. Under General supervision, the EWP Designer provides technical support to sales and customer service functions related to engineered wood products. The EWP Designer uses knowledge of customer requirements to process sales orders and to perform estimating and takeoff services.
Duties/Responsibilities:
EWP Design
  • Reads and analyzes blueprints while using EWP software to engineer accurate, cost effective and efficient designs of wood framed structures for residential and commercial projects.

  • Works with sales and customer service teams to manage time and effectively meet deadlines for designs, estimates and orders.

  • Communicates with customers to identify and resolve construction issues as they arise during the building process.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with contractors, architects and engineers through superior customer service.

  • Processes orders and coordinates deliveries with shipping schedules.

  • Plans and paces own work efficiently in order to meet daily, weekly, project or team related productivity goals.

  • Estimates and quotes full house designs at a strategic and competitive price to maximize sales.

General/Administrative
  • Supports the company vision and mission and demonstrates the corporate core values in all professional activities.

  • Complies with all OSHA safety requirements, work rules and regulations.

  • Compiles and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.

  • Follows systems and procedures outlined in company manuals.

  • Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.

Education and Experience:
Formal Education and Certification
  • Associates degree required

  • 2 years of design experience may be substituted for educational requirement

Knowledge and Experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of design experience

  • Excellent customer service skills and experience

  • Ability to read architectural and structural plans is required

  • Strong computer skills and ability to utilize design software

  • Construction and structural detailing backgrounds are preferred
