Summary

Our client is a leading architectural millwork company specializing in custom commercial casework, architectural woodwork, countertops, and finish carpentry. They partner with general contractors, architects, and designers to deliver high-quality millwork solutions for healthcare, hospitality, education, corporate interiors, multifamily, and other commercial construction projects throughout Southern California.

They are seeking a highly skilled Cabinet Vision Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced millwork professional who enjoys transforming architectural concepts into detailed manufacturing drawings while collaborating with project management, production, and installation teams.

The Cabinet Vision Engineer is responsible for producing accurate shop drawings, engineering custom millwork, programming projects within Cabinet Vision, and generating CNC-ready production information for fabrication. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects move efficiently from design through manufacturing and installation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.

Duties & ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design
  • Develop detailed shop drawings using Cabinet Vision software.
  • Engineer custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, casework, countertops, and specialty woodwork.
  • Create production-ready manufacturing drawings and CNC machining data.
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documentation to ensure design accuracy.
  • Generate bills of materials (BOMs), cut lists, hardware schedules, and production reports.
  • Ensure all engineering documents comply with AWI standards, project specifications, and company quality standards.
Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Estimators, Production, and Installation teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review field dimensions and incorporate revisions into engineering documents.
  • Coordinate shop drawing submittals and revisions with clients, architects, and design teams.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical support during fabrication and installation.
Manufacturing Support
  • Create CNC-ready production files to support manufacturing operations.
  • Assist with value engineering and identify efficient fabrication solutions.
  • Maintain engineering standards, templates, and Cabinet Vision libraries.
  • Support production teams by resolving engineering questions and recommending manufacturing improvements.
Qualifications & RequirementsRequired Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience engineering architectural millwork, commercial cabinetry, or casework.
  • Advanced proficiency with Cabinet Vision software.
  • Strong understanding of commercial millwork construction methods and fabrication processes.
  • Experience creating CNC-ready production files.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and project specifications.
  • Knowledge of woodworking materials, laminates, veneers, solid surfaces, hardware, and fabrication techniques.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of commercial millwork engineering and production workflows.
  • Familiarity with AWI Quality Standards preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Microvellum, or other CAD software.
  • Knowledge of CNC manufacturing equipment and machining workflows.
  • Experience supporting commercial projects within healthcare, education, hospitality, corporate interiors, multifamily, or institutional construction.
  • Understanding of commercial construction sequencing and coordination with project teams.
  • Experience working directly with Project Managers, Architects, General Contractors, and clients.
