Job description

As a Senior Quality Engineer within PPG's Aerospace Business, you will help support the design, production, and sustainment of advanced aerospace transparency products-including windshields, windows, and canopies. You will work with directly with military programs.
You bring technical quality expertise while being collaborative. You excel at prioritizing and escalating risks related to safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction; ensure accuracy in documentation and traceability; and promote a culture of quality excellence. You will help uphold PPG's industry-leading aerospace transparency systems.
You will sit onsite at our Sylmar, CA facility. You will report to the Senior Site Quality Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Support the F35 program by analyzing and dispositioning government owned canopies.
  • Complete initial canopy work, then transition into ongoing quality engineering support for military programs.
  • Lead COPQ reduction plans and improve across production operations.
  • Use data analytics to identify quality trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Implement and sustain Statistical Process Control (SPC) across critical manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct technical reviews and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration requirements.
  • Apply quality engineering tools such as RCCA, MSA, and SPC to resolve issues and improve process capability.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams and customers to meet quality expectations and support audits or reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA regulations, PMA processes, and OEM flow down requirements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in quality, manufacturing, or engineering roles.
  • Experience with AS9100, FAA regulations, and core quality engineering tools (RCCA, SPC, MSA).
  • Demonstrated experience conducting technical reviews, interpreting engineering drawings, and managing configuration control.
  • Experience analyzing process variation, interpret metrics, and apply data-driven methods to improve quality performance.
  • Only U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, and political asylees or refuges are eligible to apply.
  • You must have or be eligible to obtain security clearance.
  • Familiarity with aerospace transparency materials and associated optical performance standards preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CQE, AS9102, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of FAA PMA processes, OEM quality/engineering flow-down requirements, or aircraft certification practices preferred.

The base salary range for this position is $98,000 to $110,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 7% of base salary.
