Job description

Summary:
An international distributor of military and defense-related components is seeking a Program Manager to oversee customer accounts and manage the full lifecycle of sourcing and delivering mechanical parts.
This is a technical, hands-on role that combines program management, purchasing, and customer coordination. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in manufacturing or machining environments and understands how to interpret technical specifications, source components, and work directly with suppliers to fulfill complex customer requirements. This position primarily supports European customers, including NATO-aligned organizations, purchasing components for military vehicle systems such as engines, braking systems, and structural assemblies.
Responsibilities:
* Manage customer requests for quotes (RFQs) from intake through fulfillment
* Define technical requirements by reviewing blueprints, drawings, and specifications
* Research historical data and prior orders to support accurate quoting and sourcing
* Identify and qualify vendors and manufacturers to fulfill customer requirements
* Request and evaluate supplier quotes, negotiate pricing, and secure competitive sourcing
* Review and approve purchase orders and supplier documentation to ensure compliance with specifications
* Oversee order execution to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards
* Serve as the main point of contact for customers, resolving issues related to quality, delivery, or non-conformance
* Coordinate with internal support staff to manage data entry, order tracking, and supplier follow-up
* Monitor project timelines, contract requirements, and delivery schedules
Qualifications:
* Bachelor"s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline (required)
* Must have 10+ years of combined experience including:
- Hands-on experience working with mechanical components in a machining or manufacturing environment
- Technical program management, engineering support, or application-based roles involving customer, supplier, or product ownership
* Must have experience working with defense-related programs, including familiarity with DLA (Defense Logistics Agency) requirements
* Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
* Hands-on knowledge of mechanical components, materials, and manufacturing processes
* Strong communication skills for working with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
