Success is measured by quality workmanship, compliance with welding standards, on-time completion of work, and continuous improvement of welding capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform precision welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, copper alloys, and other specialty materials using GTAW, GMAW, Tip Tig, brazing, and other approved welding processes.
  • Fabricate, repair, clad, and hardface complex components while meeting customer specifications and quality requirements.
  • Set up, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot welding equipment and support tools.
  • Develop, maintain, and support Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) in accordance with NAVSEA requirements.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and NAVSEA technical publications.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Mission Assurance, and Quality to ensure welding requirements are understood and executed correctly.
  • Maintain welding logs, training records, inspection records, and other required documentation.
  • Support development and continuous improvement of Cogitic's welding program, procedures, and workmanship standards.
  • Assist with recurring customer welding audits and support compliance with applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Support future expansion of in-house welding capabilities, including robotic welding and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes.
  • Identify welding issues, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous process improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, welding safety requirements, and proper use of PPE.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, copper alloys, and heat-resistant super alloys (HRSA).
  • Proficiency with GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), Tip Tig (Hot Wire TIG), and brazing processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, and technical specifications.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to producing defect-free work.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
