A military base in Japan is a facility used by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces or foreign military forces, primarily the United States, for defense operations, training, and logistics. Military bases in Japan are located on the main islands as well as Okinawa, which hosts a significant number of U.S. military personnel and equipment.
