What does a milieu do?

A typical day in a Milieu role involves monitoring and interacting with clients to ensure a safe, supportive, and structured environment. Responsibilities often include leading or assisting with group activities, de-escalating crises as needed, documenting behavior observations and incidents, and collaborating closely with clinicians and other staff members on therapeutic plans. Team meetings and ongoing communication with colleagues are also common to discuss client progress and adjust interventions. While every shift can bring new challenges, Milieu staff play a critical role in maintaining the daily structure that supports clients’ progress and well-being.
