Job Responsibilities

The VSA Solutions Engineer serves as the lead technical consultant and solutions architect for Video Security and Access Control solutions at Solutions Management Group. This position combines engineering, consulting, business development, sales support, and technical training responsibilities to drive the growth of the VSA practice.

The VSA Solutions Engineer works closely with clients to assess business needs, develop security strategies, design solutions, create proposals, generate new opportunities, and provide technical leadership throughout the sales process. This role acts as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for physical security technologies while supporting the development of both clients and internal team members.

Job Functions
  • Provides excellent customer service to all Solutions Management Group staff and clients
  • Designs and engineering of video surveillance, access control, visitor management, intercom, and integrated security systems
  • Develops scope of work, estimates, bill of materials, budgetary pricing, and technical documentation
  • Creates conceptual system designs, system architecture, riser diagrams, device schedules, and engineering standards
  • Conducts customer discovery meetings, site assessments, and security evaluations
  • Assists Business Development team with solution development, proposal creation, and customer presentations
  • Identifies opportunities for system upgrades, lifecycle replacements, managed services, and new security initiatives
  • Generates qualified sales opportunities through customer interactions, assessments, service engagements, and industry networking
  • Develops and maintains trusted advisor relationships with existing and prospective clients
  • Serves as the technical subject matter expert during customer presentations, demonstrations, and pre-sales engagements
  • Assists with strategic technology planning and long-term security roadmap development for clients
  • Programs, configures, commissions, and troubleshoots supported security platforms when advanced technical expertise is required
  • Provides technical consultation during project handoff to Operations and Project Management teams
  • Reviews of significant design modifications and scope changes for technical accuracy
  • Develops and maintains standardized solution packages, engineering standards, and best practices
  • Provides technical sales training and product education to Business Development team and internal team
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and manufacturer solutions and makes recommendations to clients and SMG leadership
Job Qualifications
  • Employee must be able to execute strong customer service skills
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Electronics, Security Systems, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Video Security and Access Control systems
  • Strong understanding of physical security technologies and IP networking
  • Experience developing estimates, proposals, bill of materials, and technical designs
  • Experience conducting customer consultations and solution presentations
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
