Position Summary

As a Ceramist at Midwest Dental Arts , you play a critical role in crafting high-quality, esthetically superior dental restorations. You will use your artistry, attention to detail, and technical expertise to layer and contour porcelain on dental prosthetics, ensuring optimal fit, function, and esthetics for each patient case. Working closely with designers, finishers, and other technicians, you will contribute to a collaborative workflow that prioritizes precision, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and layer porcelain on crowns, bridges, veneers, and implant-supported restorations according to prescription, design specifications, and esthetic requirements.
  • Characterize restorations with stains, glazes, and surface textures to match patient-specific shading, translucency, and anatomical features.
  • Examine cases throughout the process to ensure optimal fit, occlusion, contacts, and esthetic appeal before finalization.
  • Accurately review work orders, case notes, digital designs, and prescriptions to align with clinical expectations and lab protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with digital designers, hybrid finishers, and customer service to clarify case needs, resolve issues, and ensure timely completion.
  • Operate and maintain ceramic ovens, hand tools, and other related equipment in accordance with safety and maintenance protocols.
  • Stay informed on new techniques, materials, and industry advancements; contribute to team-based learning and skill sharing.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • 2+ years of dental lab experience in ceramics preferred; hybrid or implant experience a plus.
  • Strong manual dexterity, eye for detail, and esthetic sensibility; ability to match shade guides accurately.
  • Understanding of tooth anatomy, porcelain layering, staining, glazing, and occlusal concepts.
  • Proficiency in using ceramic ovens, brushes, rotary tools, and magnification devices.
  • Team-oriented, reliable, able to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dental Laboratory Technology certification or equivalent training/experience preferred.
