Job description

SPED Certified Middle School Math Teacher - Online Campus


Although this is a remote position, candidates must reside in Arizona and be able to come onsite to our Phoenix Online Campus Office two times per month for meetings and professional development.


Under the supervision and direction of the Campus Director, the Certified SPED Teacher (Social Studies) will manage a caseload of high school students while preparing and delivering engaging social studies instruction, evaluating student performance, and supporting progress toward IEP goals. The ideal candidate will have experience differentiating instruction in social studies for a variety of learners and will work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.


Candidates with teaching certification and experience are preferred with a willingness to be trained and coached in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) strategies. The Certified teacher will support a caseload of students and work on a team to implement a best-practice educational model to achieve optimal results for students on the autism spectrum and students with other related disorders in the online learning environment.


Duties:

  • Engagement and oversight of staff and student caseload in the AZACS online classroom learning environment
  • Deliver specialized instruction in high school-level social studies, aligned with Arizona standards and students' IEPs
  • Provide instructional support for students in the classroom
  • Weekly lesson planning using curriculum resources for students in the AZACS Academic Program
  • Analyze curriculum data bi-weekly to make instructional decisions
  • Ongoing Student and Parent communication
  • Modification of materials for classrooms as needed
  • Structured teaching planning, organizing, and implementing
  • Staff communication/feedback
  • Maintain substitute plans in case of absence
  • Participate in all duties and responsibilities as appropriate for an AZACS faculty member
  • Maintains knowledge of special education teaching methods, research, and best practices through professional development and study
  • Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for caseload and attend all required student meetings
  • Collect, analyze, and report data in a meaningful manner
  • Celebrates the achievements and successes of students.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is considered a job expectation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and teaching a caseload of students with disabilities in a virtual classroom learning environment
  • At least 3 years of experience working with students with moderate to severe disabilities
  • Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) preferred


Required:

  • Must be an Arizona Resident
  • Arizona IVP Fingerprint clearance card
  • Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
