Job Description


As Structural Analyst, you will provide insight in the development, test, and certification of liquid propulsion systems for NASA’s engine development programs at the Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). You will become part of a multi-discipline team with the charter to establish flight rationale for America’s next generation of manned launch vehicles.
Primary job duties include:

  • Engage with senior engineers to provide insight on liquid engine structural elements and test fixtures.
  • Produce independent analytical assessments.
  • Develop and deliver reports and presentations.
  • Collaborate with vendors and personnel from other NASA centers in the development of integrated flight hardware and associated ground test equipment.


BS degree (MS preferred) in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, Engineering Mechanics or related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a master's with 0-2 years of experience or bachelor's with at least 0-3 years of experience.
Additional Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with one or more major commercial finite element code such as ANSYS, or ABAQUS, ANSYS is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Experience in the application of finite element methods, empirical closed-form structural analysis techniques, and the assessment of failure mechanisms is highly desired.
