At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow. By solving the world's most critical infrastructure and built environment challenges, we deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that create lasting value for our clients and communities.

As a Mid-Level Structural Engineer within our Vertical Structures team, you will contribute to the planning, analysis, design, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects. These may include commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities, structural retrofits, equipment support structures, and new steel and concrete building systems. You will work alongside experienced structural engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary project teams while continuing to expand your technical expertise and professional leadership skills.

In this role, you will be responsible for applying structural engineering principles to projects of varying size and complexity while supporting project delivery, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design for steel, concrete, masonry, and foundation systems.
  • Develop calculations, design documents, technical reports, and engineering deliverables.
  • Create and review structural analysis models using industry-standard software.
  • Design building structures to applicable building codes and industry standards, including seismic requirements.
  • Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Support construction activities through responses to RFIs, submittal reviews, and field engineering support.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs, scope development documents, engineering estimates, and project schedules as required.
  • Participate in design reviews, quality assurance processes, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Collaborate with Jacobs' Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teams to deliver projects efficiently and consistently across multiple offices and regions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as experience and project needs allow.
  • At Jacobs, you'll be empowered to grow your technical capabilities, expand your project leadership responsibilities, and develop lasting relationships with clients and colleagues while contributing to meaningful projects that improve the built environment.
Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural Engineering emphasis, or a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional structural engineering experience.

  • Experience in the analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures.
  • Working knowledge of seismic design principles and application of ASCE 7 and applicable building codes.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as RISA-3D, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar programs.
  • Experience with CAD and BIM software, including AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Working knowledge of ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, IBC, and other applicable industry codes and standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams.
Ideally, You'll Also Have
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • Experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, energy, water, or advanced facilities projects.
  • Experience with equipment anchorage, nonbuilding structures, pipe racks, equipment support structures, and conventional or deep foundation systems.
  • Familiarity with performance-based or nonlinear seismic analysis methodologies.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing engineering deliverables.
  • Ability to lead small project teams, prioritize workload effectively, and deliver high-quality work on schedule and within budget.
