About the Company

The company is a rapidly growing and innovative heavy civil contractor serving public and private clients throughout Wisconsin and the Upper Midwest. The company specializes in heavy highway construction, sitework, underground utilities, and excavation, with a strong focus on DOT/highway projects, public works, and large-scale commercial and residential developments..

About the Position

The company is seeking a Project Manager to join its growing team in Madison, WI. This individual will be responsible for managing heavy civil projects from conception through completion, ensuring all scheduling, financial, and safety objectives are achieved.

The Project Manager will collaborate closely with owners, subcontractors, field teams, and internal stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes on complex infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with owners, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Overseeing project schedules, budgets, and cost containment efforts
  • Leading field staff, subcontractors, and project personnel to ensure efficient execution
  • Ensuring all projects meet safety, quality, schedule, and profitability targets
  • Providing regular updates and reporting to company leadership and mid-level management
  • Identifying risks, resolving issues, and driving projects to successful completion

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Project Management experience, preferably in heavy civil and highway construction
  • Project Experience:
    • DOT and highway construction
    • Underground utilities (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water main)
    • Site development for large commercial and residential projects
  • Project Size Experience: Projects ranging from $10MM to $250MM
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with project management software such as Primavera and Vista
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Geographic Experience: Upper Midwest project experience preferred but not required
