Position Overview

The Mid-level IT Specialist will support the CONNECTIONS Project for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). This role provides direct user support, technical assistance, and training for the CONNECTIONS system — the statewide child welfare information system used across New York State.

The IT Specialist will assist users via in-person, phone, and email, ensuring compliance with data entry requirements and supporting the ongoing implementation of new system functionality. This position is hybrid, requiring 50% onsite work in Rensselaer, NY.

Day-to-Day Tasks to Be Performed by Candidate Include:

• Provide CONNECTIONS user support via in-person, email, and telephone
• Provide direct, on-site instruction to individual users and small groups
• Provide instruction on newly released functionality
• Deliver presentations to line staff
• Monitor compliance with data entry requirements
• Review training materials
• Provide technical assistance with data warehouse

Role Definition – IT Specialist (CONNECTIONS Project)

Works in the field of Information Technology, experienced in the usage and support of a collection of development platforms, technical architectures, or business applications and products that run on those platforms — beyond that of a Programmer.

Mid-Level (3–5 Years): Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance.

Qualifications

  1. 3 years of experience providing IT support to users.
  2. 3 years of experience providing implementation support services.
  3. 1.5 years of experience providing onsite systems support in a child welfare environment. Child welfare is defined as child protective, foster care/permanency, or preventive services.
  4. 1.5 years of experience training staff in a child welfare environment. Child welfare is defined as child protective, foster care/permanency, or preventive services.
  5. Bachelor’s Degree
