Job description

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning and studies, technical consultation, project management, surveying, environmental planning, commissioning/testing and construction services to electric utilities, energy developers and industrials throughout the U.S. Our experience includes system voltages from 4.16 kV through 765 kV.
ECI has an immediate opening for a mid-level designer. This position will encompass a variety of design and drafting tasks supporting overhead and underground transmission line and distribution line projects using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, PLS-CADD software, and company-specific spreadsheets. This includes the design of underground power cable, routing, development of system plans, grounding details, conduit details, plans and profiles, structures, preparation of bill of materials, and electric schematics based on guidance from the project engineer. Occasional drafting and design support to other groups, including substation and industrial, is expected.
Minimum Requirements: College degree in an acceptable curriculum or two-year technical certificate in computer-aided drafting/design. A minimum of 10 years of concentrated computer-aided drafting experience or sufficient CADD knowledge supplemented by industrial, construction or construction management is required. 3D CADD experience (MicroStation or AutoCAD) is beneficial. Proven effective verbal and written communication skills; proven excellent level of interpersonal skills; ability to work individually and on a team. Must be detail oriented and possess a high level of organizational skills. The successful applicant may be subject to client mandated drug and background checking. Occasional travel/driving will be required. Successful applicant is subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future.
