Job description

We're partnering with a leading apparel brand seeking a Wash Specialist (Denim) to support the development and execution of innovative wash techniques for denim and cut-and-sew apparel. This role will partner closely with Design, Product Development, Technical Design, Sourcing, Quality, and vendor partners to bring seasonal wash concepts to life while ensuring quality, consistency, and production readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute wash techniques for denim and cut-and-sew garments
• Translate design inspiration into production-ready wash standards
• Research new wash technologies, finishes, and sustainable processes
• Partner with laundries, mills, and vendors to develop and approve wash samples
• Evaluate wash samples for color, hand feel, appearance, and quality
• Troubleshoot wash issues and ensure consistency from development through bulk production
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Technical Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, and QA
• Maintain wash documentation, recipes, and development records
• Monitor production wash execution and provide vendor feedback
• Support sustainable wash initiatives and ensure compliance with chemical and environmental standards
Qualifications:
5+ years of denim and/or garment wash product development experience
• Strong knowledge of garment dyeing, enzyme washing, stone washing, bleaching, tinting, over-dyeing, and finishing techniques
• Experience with sustainable wash technologies including laser, ozone, and e-flow
• Understanding of fabric performance and wash behavior
• Experience partnering with overseas vendors and laundries
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or a related field
• Experience with PLM systems and digital wash libraries
• Familiarity with sustainability standards including ZDHC, RSL, MRSL, GOTS, Bluesign, or Oeko-Tex
