Job description

Direct Counsel is partnering with a top global law firm seeking a mid-level Patent Prosecution Associate for its premier Life Sciences IP practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for attorneys and scientists passionate about advancing groundbreaking biotechnology innovations through strategic patent protection.

About the Role

The firm is seeking candidates with 1–5 years of experience in biotechnology-focused patent prosecution, along with an advanced degree (preferably a Ph.D.) in a life sciences discipline such as:

  • Molecular biology

  • Immunology

  • Biochemistry

  • Cell biology

  • Related biotechnology fields

You will work on sophisticated patent prosecution and counseling projects involving emerging companies and pioneering technologies, including:

  • Antibodies

  • DNA and RNA therapeutics

  • Chemical biology platforms

  • Gene-editing technologies

  • Other next-generation biotech innovations

USPTO registration is required. Candidates must already be registered or be prepared to sit for and pass the patent bar within 12 months of hire.

Compensation & Benefits

Massachusetts Salary Range: $225,000 – $435,000

Final compensation will be determined during the interview process and may vary based on:
