Job description

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good.

Your impact

Thriving communities. A healthy environment. A brighter future. What we do is more than infrastructure, we work every day to make the world better for everyone. If you want to join a company invested in you, your success, and the global community, join us as a Mid-Level Water Engineer in our Holladay, UT office. If you are looking for a rewarding and stable career with an established firm that provides opportunities for growth and advancement, this is the place for you! You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a talented group of professionals in an open and friendly work environment, where personal and professional growth are supported, and contributions to the success of the firm are rewarded.

As a Mid-Level Water Engineer, you’ll work closely with design teams and discipline experts to deliver quality engineering projects. We focus on challenging treatment design projects that will provide you the opportunity to contribute to solving problems and execute infrastructure designs. Your role will focus on planning, evaluation, and design development for water treatment infrastructure needs and projects, potentially working on multiple assignments simultaneously. Additionally, you’ll coordinate your activities across multiple disciplines and collaborate closely with other subject matter experts and team members.

Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience in water related disciplines (water treatment, water resources, drinking water; wastewater and sewer; etc.)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 6-months
  • Experience developing drawings and specifications, and/or with computer modeling.
  • Experience writing engineering technical reports and presentations
  • Foundational experience with MS Office 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience or working knowledge with Bluebeam, Autodesk and/or Bentley CAD platforms
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver and lead tasks
  • Attention to detail, quality delivery, and client service
Ideally, you'll also have:
  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
  • Design and/or project management experience

Our health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Employees have access to medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and the ability to purchase company stock at a discount. Eligible employees may also enroll in a deferred compensation plan or the Executive Deferral Plan. Jacobs has an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for full-time salaried/exempt employees, seven paid holidays, and caregiver leave. And certain roles may be eligible for additional rewards, including merit increases, performance discretionary bonus, and stock.

The base salary range for this position is $123,600.00 to $180,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.

Job posted on August 18, 2026. This position will be open for at least 3 days.

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery. We empower employees with our hybrid working policy, allowing them to split their work week between Jacobs offices/projects and remote locations enabling them to deliver their best work.

Your application experience is important to us, and we’re keen to adapt to make every interaction even better. If you require further support or reasonable adjustments with regards to the recruitment process (for example, you require the application form in a different format), please contact the team via Careers Support .
