Why Fieldpiece?

Fieldpiece is a privately held, global leader in professional HVACR tools and test instruments. We're known for developing innovative products that technicians rely on every day—and for investing in our people, our technology, and our future. Named one of the Best Places to Work in Southern California for four consecutive years, we're looking for talented people who want to make an impact while growing their careers.

Why This Role?

The mobile experience is becoming one of the most important ways customers interact with Fieldpiece products.

As a Senior iOS / Android Engineer, you'll design, develop, and support native iOS and Android applications that connect technicians to the data, diagnostics, and insights generated by our industry-leading tools. You'll work closely with Product, UX, Cloud Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to build intuitive, high-performance mobile applications that integrate with SaaS and DaaS platforms and help shape the future of connected HVACR technology.

This is a hands‑on engineering role where you'll influence architecture, champion mobile development best practices, and help deliver applications that technicians depend on every day.

This position is based in our Orange, CA office with an exciting move to Tustin, CA in 2028. We offer a hybrid work schedule with employees typically working onsite three days per week. Additional onsite days may be required for team collaboration, planning sessions, or other business needs. Travel is expected to be up to 10%.

What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, and maintain native iOS and Android applications using Swift, Objective‑C, Kotlin, and Java.
  • Support the full application lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing enhancements.
  • Build secure, high-performance mobile applications that integrate with cloud-based SaaS and DaaS platforms through RESTful APIs.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, responsiveness, and maintainability across supported devices and operating systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to high-quality, well‑tested code with minimal technical debt.
  • Collaborate with Product Management, UX/UI, Cloud Engineering, and Software Engineering teams to deliver intuitive customer experiences.
  • Champion mobile engineering best practices while contributing to architecture, code quality, Agile delivery, and continuous improvement.
What Makes This Opportunity Different
  • Connected products. Build mobile applications that work seamlessly with professional HVACR tools used by technicians worldwide.
  • Modern technology stack. Develop native iOS and Android applications integrated with cloud platforms, REST APIs, AWS services, and connected technologies.
  • Meaningful customer impact. Your work directly improves how professionals diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain critical HVACR systems.
  • Collaborative development. Work closely with Product, UX, Cloud Engineering, and Software Engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Innovation. Help shape the future of connected products by contributing to mobile architecture, AI-enabled capabilities, and evolving customer experiences.
In Your First Year, You'll Likely
  • Build relationships across the organization to become a trusted technical contributor for our native applications and deliver new features and enhancements that improve the customer’s experience across iOS and Android platforms.
  • Improve and evolve our mobile architecture, standards/processes, application quality, performance, reliability, and maintainability through engineering best practices.
Qualifications What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience, including at least 3 years developing mobile applications.
  • Strong experience developing native iOS and/or Android applications using Swift, Objective‑C, Kotlin, or Java.
  • Experience integrating mobile applications with RESTful APIs and cloud-based services.
  • Knowledge of mobile data storage technologies such as SQLite, Room, Core Data, or similar frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of server‑side technologies such as Go, Node.js, or Python.
  • Experience using Git, GitHub, code reviews, and modern source control workflows.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Experience working in Agile software development environments.
Bonus Points If You Have
  • Experience developing applications that integrate with SaaS or DaaS platforms.
  • Experience with AWS cloud environments and cloud‑hosted applications.

Why You’ll Enjoy Working at Fieldpiece
  • As a privately held company, we invest for the long term—in our people, our products, and our future. That means we can focus on innovation, continuous improvement, and building lasting careers rather than chasing short‑term results.
  • Work alongside talented, collaborative teammates who are passionate about innovation and solving real‑world problems.
  • Make a meaningful impact in a company where your ideas are heard, your expertise is valued, and your contributions help shape the future of our products and business.
