 Network/Telecom Engineer – Raleigh, NC (Onsite | 6+ Month Contract)

Location: Raleigh, NC
Duration: 6+ Months (Contract)
Work Type: Onsite – Locals Preferred

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Network/Telecom Engineer to support public health infrastructure operations, including COVID and other infectious disease case investigation and contact tracing systems. The selected professional will work directly with full-time State employees to provide infrastructure and operations support for existing PHIN (Public Health Information Network) operations.

This is a hands-on technical role involving the design, maintenance, and administration of network and telecom systems, as well as support for critical Linux and Windows server environments.


Responsibilities
  • Design and maintain both the hardware and software necessary for computer network operations.

  • Specialize in Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), TCP/IP, virtual machines, and/or server/network infrastructure.

  • Install, configure, and administer network routers and switches.

  • Perform installation of cable, wiring, and related equipment for telephony and data interfaces and systems with communications functions.

  • Execute disaster recovery, backup, and archiving procedures to ensure system continuity.

  • Conduct performance tuning, capacity planning, database administration, and fault management for network systems.

  • Manage Apache Tomcat and Wildfly configurations for Java web application deployments.

  • Provide support for Linux and Windows clusters, including systems administration and automation tasks.

Assist in Storage Area Network (SAN) management and operations.
