Job description

Title: Graduate Assistant, Strength and Conditioning

General Summary
With the guidance of one or more staff or faculty members, perform a mixture of services in support of communication, technology, business operations, or student affairs activities for more than 50% of their service. The Staff Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and tuition waiver, subject to federal tax.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and implement sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for 1-2 assigned Olympic sport teams;
  • Supervise team training sessions;
  • Demonstrate and instruct proper weightlifting techniques, and
  • Assist with all football strength and conditioning responsibilities, including practices, travel, and game day operations.
Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to work up to 20 hours per week (10 for 50%) is required. GPA of 3.0 or higher is required. Admission and enrollment in a graduate program are required. Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required. Enrollment in at least 6 credits for Fall and Winter semesters is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Science, Sports Management or a related field is required.
  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) credential is required.
  • CPR/AED certification is required.
  • Full-time enrollment in an Eastern Michigan University graduate program and compliance with eligibility requirements to serve as a graduate assistant is required.
