We are looking for BI Developer with Microstrategy and Cognos Exp in Washington, DC for Fulltime position.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


1. Assisting the director with developing dashboard, data cubes, visual/spatial reporting and other business intelligence solutions. 


2. Assisting with the software development/selection process, including but not limited to: implementation of project from concept; requirements gathering, analysis, product selection or design, code development, testing and implementation. 


3. Coordinating communication with business sponsors and stakeholders to gather requirements and document business processes. 


4. Designing and creating database structures which adhere to corporate and industry standards while supporting the business functions of the Corporation and an open architecture. Database development includes stored procedures and Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages. 


5. Evaluating new business intelligence technologies and techniques to provide recommendations which will result in a positive impact on the organization. 


6. Facilitating and enhancing data transparency, analysis and reporting utilizing various software tools, including MS Reporting Services and Analysis Services. 


7. Assisting with implementing the goals set forth as related to database architecture and development activities. 


8. Ensuring accurate data and proper governance, security and quality of information assets.


9. Providing Tier 2 support for trouble shooting data reporting, ETL and application support related issues. 


10. Participate in and support day-to-day operations on production applications and internet/intranet web sites. 


11. Researching, maintaining and training on new and developing technologies and solutions within the business intelligence, reporting and analysis discipline. 




Qualifications

Required Minimum Qualifications: 




(a) Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or related field is required. 




(b) Experience: At least 6 years' professional experience in designing, developing, and being actively engaged on business intelligence projects to include use of dash boards, reports and data cubes.




(c) Licenses, Certifications: None specified. 




(d) Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience with Business Intelligence platforms like MicroStrategy, SAP, BIRST, or Cognos. Experience designing visual report solutions, including dashboards using Dundas and/or other data visualization/dashboard tools. Expertise in relational and multi-dimensional database schemas is a must. Advanced level of writing and reading query plans. Experience designing Star, Snow flake Schemas and OLAP cubes preferred. Exposure to SharePoint. Fluent in T-SQL programming language, including store procedures and user defined functions. Well versed in development Data Transformation Services (DTS) packages. Practiced in the principles of ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load). Trained in relational database modeling and normalization. Effective problem solving skills, and ability to analyze existing systems and ascertain users' needs, and translate into clear proposals and plans. Must have the ability to work multiple projects with multiple deliverables. Must be proactive and be able to work both independently and collaboratively with staff in the IT&S division, internal customers and external vendors. Excellent written and oral skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal customers and vendors, in a technical and non-technical manner, including communicating technical information to non-technical users. 




(e) Technology: MS SQL Server 2008/2012. Report writing tools. BI Intelligence tools.




Preferred Qualifications: 




Experience with Business Intelligence platforms like MicroStrategy, SAP, BIRST, Cognos, and dashboard tool like Dundas or Tableau is desirable.




Working Conditions: 




(a) Travel: less than 10%.




(b) Physical/Sensory Demands: fast paced working environment. 




Special Provisions:




Occasional weekend or evening work may be required for maintenance or system upgrades.
