Job description

Job Title: MicroStrategy Architect
Job Location:  Houston, TX
Job Type: Contract

Job Description:

  • Design and implement scalable BI architecture leveraging MicroStrategy platform.
  • Define BI solution frameworks including semantic layer, metadata objects, cubes, and schema design.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into optimized dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Lead MicroStrategy development efforts including reporting, mobile BI, self-service analytics, and distribution services.
  • Ensure best practices in data modeling, schema design, and performance tuning.
  • Integrate MicroStrategy with data warehouses, ETL processes, and external systems.
  • Establish and enforce governance, security, and access control models for BI assets.
  • Mentor development teams and provide architectural guidance for BI initiatives.
  • Evaluate emerging BI technologies and recommend solutions to improve business intelligence capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing MicroStrategy solutions for performance, scalability, and usability.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence / Data Warehousing, with at least 5 years in MicroStrategy architecture and development.
  • Strong knowledge of MicroStrategy components (Architect, Developer, Web, Library, Workstation, Distribution Services, Visual Insight).
  • Proficiency in data modeling, SQL, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and BI integrations.
  • Solid understanding of ETL, data governance, and security frameworks.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Experience leading BI teams and managing enterprise BI deployments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MicroStrategy certifications (MCEP, MCD, MCE, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based BI deployments.
  • Knowledge of complementary BI/analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, Qlik).
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology for BI project delivery.
