Position description:
JTEC Consulting is seeking Quantum Physicists to work in support of a federal government program. This is an opportunity to work in a cutting-edge program environment. All work will be on-site and relocation assistance will be considered. We anticipate ongoing hiring needs.
Qualified candidates should have the ability to envision and articulate new areas of research, exploration, and avenues of novel approaches. This is a dynamic environment and requires team members to be comfortable with leading efforts, providing guidance, and transitioning those efforts for future development, while still monitoring and engaging in ongoing progress. The ability to function as a technical leader (non-supervisory) is strongly desired as is the ability to articulate concepts and work with clarity and professionalism.

Role and responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical support and expertise in the area of quantum information science.
  • Assimilate and integrate technical inputs from performers and analyze technical deliverables and reports.
  • Conduct technical writing, development/refinement of briefing materials, and other program documentation using MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Conduct independent review and summary of related technical literature and emerging technologies, and participate in conferences and workshops related to program technical areas.
  • Develop and document testing methodology and protocols, ensuring they align with program technology components.
  • Assess performer results against program metrics.
  • Coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks and perform continuous analysis of technical progress in comparison to planned cost and schedule.
  • Perform technical and programmatic risk analysis/review and tracking.


Qualified candidate will have experience in one or more of these research areas:

  • Control Systems and Sensing to support the analysis of existing capabilities and inform decision making.
    • Advanced Control Techniques for precision analog control systems for mixed-signal assemblies, boards, FPGAs and ASICs and mixed analog/digital circuits for research, design, and test.
  • Future Computing and High-Performance Computing (HPC) Solutions
    • Expertise in superconducting logic such as SFQ, RSFQ, eRSFQ, RQL etc. for design, analysis and testing of logic circuits, boards, and/or ASICs, and experience in superconducting circuity technology.
  • Quantum Computing for qubit approaches that will change as technology advances such as:
    • Qubit development utilizing superconducting circuits for fabrication and RF test/measurement.
    • Qubit development utilizing silicon devices.
    • Qubit development utilizing trapped ions and micro-fabrication techniques.
    • Quantum characterization, verification, and validation.
    • Fault Tolerant Quantum Computing/Quantum Error Correction
    • Microwave/RF Engineering related to circuit design and modeling, waveform synthesis synchronization and transmission, and high frequency acquisition and digitization.
    • Quantum Information Science technologies experience.

Experience, education, and other requirements include:

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Current U.S. government security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • PhD in Physics or related field preferred; qualified candidates with a master's degree in a related discipline will be considered.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related professional experience; experience in related research activity will be considered.
  • At least one publication in a related subject.
  • Experience in quantum information research (experiment or theory), particularly in quantum computing research preferred.
  • Postdoc experience or equivalent, preferred.
  • Expertise in trapped-ion and/or superconducting experiments, preferred.
  • Expertise in quantum information theory, preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to write concisely.
  • Persuasive speaking/writing skills.
  • Ability to accurately convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise.
  • Proficiency working across the Microsoft Office Suite.
