The Microsoft Security Trust Team educates and empowers the Microsoft Security organization to build and maintain customer trust. We ensure that security products and services comply with Microsoft privacy standards, policies, regulatory requirements, contractual agreements while leading efforts to deliver enterprise-wide cutting-edge solutions that meet business goals. We are looking for Technical Program Managers with an engineering mindset to ensure our privacy and compliance promises live up to our reputation of running on trust. This role provides you with the leadership opportunity to effect change that will have market-wide impacts. As a member of the Privacy Group Program team, you will be responsible for coordinating efforts across the Security division in collaboration with privacy, compliance, legal, and business group representatives.

Responsibilities
As part of the Trust team, you will be responsible for owning the end-to-end privacy rhythm of business which includes conducting and signing off on privacy reviews, reviewing data access requests from partner teams, counseling engineering teams on privacy requirements and privacy first design patterns. The ideal candidate could have an engineering or compliance background, command of engineering best practices, and experience in raising the quality of existing solutions. EA successful candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a passion for technology, experience providing guidance and direction to technical audiences, the ability to drive toward the "big picture" while managing details, and the ability to build relationships with key partners. Responsibilities will include:
  • Own and drive the Privacy Program rhythm of business across services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to product teams on privacy and compliance obligations.
  • Manage and lead discussions with engineering teams, customers, auditors, legal, and regulators to demonstrate our compliance obligations are understood and achievable.
  • Understand emerging privacy, compliance, and technical issues and how they will impact our services.
  • Embrace a "compliance by design" mindset; proactively identify systemic gaps that should be integrated into program design and elevate them to the appropriate owners. Prevent local/one-off solutioning whenever possible.
  • Drive simplification and automation to evolve processes, services, and solutions, to increase agility and efficiencies while lowering costs.
  • Coordinate with other privacy, compliance, and risk management leaders in the company to ensure Microsoft Security's programs are aligned and partner closely with governance owners, including Privacy Regulatory Affairs and Corporate External Legal Affairs Front Line.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 2+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 7+ years of experience in privacy, engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development.
  • 3+ years of experience driving Privacy Compliance.
  • 3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise in privacy, security, and compliance, including regulations and frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, SOX, and emerging data governance requirements; IAPP certification or equivalent preferred
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Security technologies and services, including privacy incidents, compliance programs, and recognized subject matter expertise in security and privacy compliance disciplines.
  • Proven ability to drive outcomes through collaboration and influence, partnering effectively with technical and business stakeholders across organizational levels to solve complex problems, drive change, and deliver win-win solutions.
  • Demonstrated growth mindset and leadership qualities, including proactively identifying opportunities, developing innovative complaint solutions, improving processes, and exhibiting integrity, initiative, resourcefulness, and results in a fast-paced environment.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
