JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Specialist, Microsoft 365 is responsible for leading the implementation, administration, adoption, and continuous improvement of Microsoft tools across Blue Bird Corporation. This role serves as the internal subject matter expert for Microsoft 365 and related Microsoft technologies, helping business teams improve productivity, collaboration, automation, communication, and security. The Microsoft Specialist will partner with IT, Human Resources, Operations, Finance, Legal, Engineering, Sales, and other business functions to identify needs, implement solutions, manage updates, train users, and ensure Blue Bird is maximizing the value of its Microsoft technology investment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the implementation, configuration, and optimization of Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Forms, Planner, Power Automate, Power Apps, Viva, and related applications.
  • Drive Microsoft updates, releases, enhancements, and feature adoption by evaluating changes, assessing business impact, coordinating testing, communicating updates, and supporting rollout plans.
  • Partner with business leaders and functional teams to understand operational needs and recommend Microsoft-based solutions that improve workflow efficiency, collaboration, data access, document management, and employee productivity.
  • Develop and maintain governance standards for Microsoft tools, including naming conventions, permissions, data retention practices, site ownership, Teams structure, shared document practices, and security expectations.
  • Serve as a liaison between IT and business users to translate business needs into practical Microsoft solutions and ensure implementations are aligned with Blue Bird priorities.
  • Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and guidance for Microsoft applications, escalating technical issues when appropriate and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Create and deliver user training, quick reference guides, communications, and adoption materials to help employees effectively use Microsoft tools.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes using Power Automate, Power Apps, Forms, Lists, and other Microsoft capabilities.
  • Monitor Microsoft roadmap changes, service health notifications, licensing opportunities, and emerging features to keep Blue Bird current on relevant capabilities.
  • Maintain documentation for system configurations, business processes, governance decisions, training resources, and support procedures.
  • Support Microsoft security, compliance, and access management practices in partnership with IT security and infrastructure teams.
  • Measure adoption and effectiveness of Microsoft tools through usage data, feedback, training participation, and business outcomes.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES FOR SUCCESS

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Outlook, Forms, Planner, Lists, Power Automate, Power Apps, and Microsoft 365 administration concepts.
  • Experience leading technology rollouts, user adoption initiatives, process improvement projects, or business systems implementations.

BASIC EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three or more years of experience administering, implementing, supporting, and driving adoption of Microsoft 365 tools in a business environment.
  • All candidates must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States and will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility at the time of hire.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Microsoft certification required within a defined period after hire if not already held, with preferred credentials including Microsoft 365 Certified: Fundamentals, Microsoft 365 administrator-related certifications, Teams administration, Power Platform Fundamentals, Power Platform App Maker, or other relevant Microsoft credentials.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, security groups, conditional access concepts, licensing administration, and basic compliance or data governance practices.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, transportation, automotive, or multi-site business environments.
  • Experience developing business process automation, dashboards, forms, workflows, or low-code applications using Microsoft tools.
  • Familiarity with change management and employee communications related to technology adoption.
