Structural Design Engineer – Cincinnati, OH

Our client, a national construction products manufacturer, is seeking a Structural Design Engineer. As a crucial member of the organization, you will specialize in structural engineering design, offering vital technical support to our dynamic engineering department, sales team, operations crew, and our customers. Your role will revolve around Stormwater products, involving design, installation, and evaluation. You will be the architect behind precision as you meticulously prepare and certify structural calculations and drawings, ensuring the reliability of our products.

Responsibilities:

Design and Technical Support: Provides project specific design services focusing on their precast products – including preparation of engineering drawings and calculations, review of project plans, developing project solutions, providing technical advice – to assist the engineering team with integration and acceptance of the company’s products into site plans.

Structural Analysis: Perform structural analysis of precast manholes and vaults.

Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with in-house engineers, CAD Techs, Sales Team members, and external engineers in specifying and designing products. Offer technical support to the manufacturing team as needed to ensure the proper fabrication of products.

Communication: Handle inquiries from the field sales team, outside consultants, and plant personnel by providing competent technical advice and input.

Standards and Best Practices: Maintain engineering standards, policies, best practices, and procedures to contribute to risk management efforts. Assist in development of training programs and materials for companies’ products.

Professional Development: Maintain knowledge and certifications in the civil/structural engineering field by attending industry trade shows, continuing education courses, and seminars, as necessary.

Field Support: Travel to job sites to provide technical support, consultation, and evaluation related to companies’ products.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a strong preference for a degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.

EIT (Engineer-in-Training) Required.

At least 2 years’ experience in civil engineering project work preferred.

Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office is required, and AutoCAD proficiency is preferred.

Exposure to finite element analysis and/or structural analysis software is a plus.
