Job description

Topologe, LLC is a growing small business with its headquarters located in Washington, DC. It is a certified Small Disadvantaged Business. Topologe provides Software Engineering, Systems engineering, AI/Machine Learning, IT Infrastructure, Help Desk, Information Assurance, Project Management and Network Engineering Services. Topologe supports multiple DoD clients to include the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Aviation Administration, Dept of Interior Fish and Wildlife Service, among others.

We are currently searching for an AI Team Lead for hybrid work (1-2 days in office/week). Though candidates may reside anywhere in the US, work will be completed in Eastern Standard Time (EST) hours. Candidates must be a Data Scientist will be responsible for the following:

Principal Responsibilities

  • Continue the development and implementation of a user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) based data products/applications/services to support SOM efforts using scientifically vetted/published packages and modules.
  • Write and optimize code for processing large structured and unstructured data-sets
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team of AI engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers through technical guidance, coaching, and performance management.
  • Serve as the technical authority for machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, predictive analytics, and related AI technologies.
  • Architect scalable AI platforms, MLOps pipelines, model deployment strategies, and cloud-native AI infrastructure
  • Communicate effectively with other domain experts for data acquisition requests between internal departments.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols for software packages and modules.
  • Follow and comply with business standards and security framework for software development tasks
  • Provide expert support in developing/reframing Statistical and Machine Learning algorithms being deployed in data products/applications/services.
  • Assist in quality assurance/quality control for data being used on pilot projects consistent with developed SOPs and reframe SOPs based on feedback from pilot projects.
  • Assist in piloting projects that are implementing continuously improving protocols to inform and further reframe the protocol.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical discipline; Master''s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data science, including at least 4 years in technical leadership or people management.
  • Software development experience with statistical software and packages, including machine learning frameworks Python.
  • Experience deploying full stack, production-ready apps is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face Transformers, LangChain, or similar technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing MLOps pipelines using tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Azure Machine Learning, Vertex AI, SageMaker, or equivalent platforms.
  • Experience with cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform, with expertise deploying scalable AI workloads.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering concepts, SQL/NoSQL databases, vector databases, distributed computing, and ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs, microservices, containerized applications (Docker), and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with multiple partners, working in teams.
  • Ability to manage a complex task, including short-term and long-term planning, goal and policy setting, and monitoring accomplishments.
