Microsoft Internships information

What are Microsoft internships?

Microsoft internships are structured work experiences offered by Microsoft to students and recent graduates. These programs provide hands-on opportunities to work on real projects, collaborate with experienced professionals, and develop technical and professional skills in a global technology company. Interns at Microsoft can work in various areas such as software engineering, product management, data science, and more. The internships typically last for 12 weeks during the summer, but there are also year-round and virtual opportunities. Successful interns may have the chance to secure full-time positions at Microsoft after graduation.

What types of projects do Microsoft interns typically work on, and how do these projects contribute to their professional development?

Microsoft interns are often assigned to real-world projects that directly impact the company's products and services. These projects can range from developing new software features, conducting market research, enhancing user experiences, to working on cloud computing platforms. Interns collaborate closely with full-time employees, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship, which helps build technical and soft skills. Successfully contributing to these projects not only adds substantial value to a resume but also opens doors to potential full-time opportunities within Microsoft.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Microsoft intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Microsoft Intern, you need a solid academic background in your field (such as computer science, engineering, business, or related areas), along with strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, programming languages (like C#, Python, or Java), and cloud platforms such as Azure is often beneficial. Excellent communication, teamwork, and adaptability help interns collaborate effectively and navigate dynamic project environments. These skills and qualities are essential for making meaningful contributions, learning quickly, and maximizing the internship experience within a leading technology company.

Are internships at Microsoft paid?

Yes, internships at Microsoft are paid positions. Interns typically receive compensation based on their role, location, and level of experience, and the program often includes additional benefits such as mentorship and professional development opportunities.

How do I get a Microsoft Internship?

To get a Microsoft Internship, applicants should review the internship opportunities on the Microsoft Careers website, ensure they meet the eligibility criteria such as academic standing and relevant skills, and submit a complete application including a resume and cover letter. Strong technical skills, relevant coursework, and prior project experience can improve chances, and some internships may require interviews or coding assessments.

RQ Construction

Internship

Job description

Since 1996, RQ Construction, LLC. has been a leading player in Southern California's robust commercial and governmental Design-Build economy. We now have a national presence with current projects approaching $300M, spanning coast to coast, including Puerto Rico.

Our mission is "to provide our customers the best built environment while being the first choice of all stakeholders." Headquartered on the West Coast in Carlsbad, CA, we are a full-service Design-Build company. We offer management of projects throughout the United States, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Puerto Rico, with our field operations' team members who work on location for each of our projects. We specialize in fast-track projects in new commercial construction for both public and private clients, with a primary focus in the Department of Defense market.

We are looking for an Internship candidate to join our Operations team on current projects in Puerto Rico. These opportunities will expose interns to entry-level management within the organization. Our assignments vary from field project operations to office support. Project assignments will require working on an active military base. Interns will be exposed to project management and field operations experiences that will help individuals see a possible future career within the field of construction. All work is performed on-site, whether on the jobsite or in the assigned office. Applicants must be pursuing their Mechanical Engineering Degrees.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) is the minimum education required for this position, though candidates enrolled in a Bachelor's Program (Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Business) will be given priority. A combination of equivalent work experience and training in the field may be qualifying.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, Internet, etc.) required.
  • Prior work experience within the construction industry strongly desired but not required.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, gender (including gender identity and gender expression), religion (all aspects of religious beliefs, observance or practice, including religious dress or grooming practices) marital status, registered domestic partner status, age, national origin or ancestry, physical or mental disability, medical condition (including cancer or a record or history of cancer, and genetic characteristics), sex (including pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical condition), genetic information, sexual orientation, veteran status, or any other basis or status protected by federal, state, or local law or ordinance or regulation.

All candidates considered for hire must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire. Additionally, all candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check, including a stricter Department of Defense background check, for access to job site at military base (if applicable for position being hired for).
