Job description

Microsoft Dynamics Business Central Solution Lead / Project Manager About the Client

Ascendex Consulting works with middle-market companies to accelerate the strategic adoption of technology. This ranges from providing technology advisory and leadership services to implementing and optimizing enterprise capabilities such as ERP, CRM, and data/business intelligence platforms.

Among these capabilities, we regularly implement, optimize, and support Microsoft platforms and work with our clients to navigate complexity and build systems that hold up under pressure.

Job Description

The ideal candidate is someone who has been in the trenches of multiple Dynamics Business Central projects and brings excellence, experience, and discipline to these strategic initiatives.

This is a senior role where you'll lead Business Central engagements from kickoff through go-live. You'll be the voice of truth for Ascendex clients, keeping them apprised of scope, timeline, budget, and risks, and the leader that team members look to when things get complicated.

You'll also be a key solution leader that supports our sales process when Business Central expertise is needed.

Ascendex has been an Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies honoree in both 2024 and 2025. For those interested, this role provides an opportunity for significant professional advancement and increase in span of responsibilities as the company grows.

All U.S. based candidates are encouraged to apply. Due to the location of our clients and offices, the ideal candidate locations are Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Detroit, MI, and Florida.

Key Areas of Responsibility

On any given week, you may be leading a discovery workshop with a new client, creating a business requirements document, unblocking a stalled UAT, and putting together a status update for an executive sponsor. The work is varied, fast-moving, and rarely boring.

More specifically:

  • Lead solution design for BC implementations to include modules, integrations, data migration, and the bigger picture.
  • Run projects end-to-end: scope, budget, timeline, resources, and client communication.
  • Do the fit-gap work and translate messy business requirements into clean functional specs.
  • Keep engagements on track and flag problems early rather than hoping they resolve themselves.
  • Mentor consultants who are earlier in their careers and help them grow.
  • Jump into pre-sales when needed including scoping, estimating, presenting to prospective clients.
Requirements

You've done this before, more than once.

Specifically:

  • 8–12 years working with Business Central and/or NAV
  • Multiple full-lifecycle implementations leading both the technical solution and the project
  • Strong functional depth in Business Central in at least one of the following areas: Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or similar; multi-module experience is a plus
  • Project management experience including the management of project scope, successfully navigating challenging clients, and managing tight budgets.
  • Equally comfortable speaking with C‑level executives, line workers, and developers working through a technical problem
  • Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project or other project management tools
  • Business Central or NAV certifications
  • PMP or similar certification
  • Experience with Power Platform, Power BI, or broader Microsoft ecosystem work
  • Prior experience supporting the sales process and crafting Statements of Work
