Job description

SmithGroup is an integrated design firm with a reputation for cultivating a top-ranked culture while pioneering award-winning innovative design solutions. We blend research, data and technology with ingenuity and a creative spirit to deliver resilient, inclusive spaces that solve our clients' greatest challenges. Our teams create exceptional design solutions for healthcare, science and technology, workplace, mixed use, higher education, cultural, waterfront, parks and open spaces, and urban environments. We are looking for passionate problem solvers who want to elevate design, push boundaries and create a more resilient future.
SmithGroup is seeking a Dynamics 365 Administrator to serve as a hands-on subject matter expert across our Microsoft Dynamics 365 ecosystem - spanning Customer Engagement (CE), Project Operations (PO), and Finance and Operations (F&O). This is a hybrid role combining administrative duties, end-user support, and development effort. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, internal IT teams, and managed services providers to deliver D365 application configuration, production administration, operational support, test automation, and upgrade cycles. This position can be located in Ann Arbor, Detroit, or Boston.
Working with us, you will:
  • Configure, administer, and support the Microsoft Dynamics 365 modules, including Customer Engagement (CE), Project Operations (PO), Finance and Operations (F&O) and Power Platform.
  • Serve as the operational liaison to the Dynamics managed services vendor for production issues, new feature development, configuration changes, defect resolution, and upgrades.
  • Configure, test, deploy, and maintain D365 solutions across DEV, UAT, and PROD environments, following established change-management, documentation, and support practices.
  • Own day-to-day production operations for the Dynamics 365 ecosystem, including onboarding and offboarding users; administering roles and security access; monitoring and troubleshooting scheduled jobs; maintaining configurations; and performing data-quality and cleanup activities.
  • Respond to end-user incidents and requests through the ticketing system, applying a methodical approach to assess and troubleshoot production issues related to performance, access, and data accuracy.
  • Drive system adoption and continuous improvement by evaluating, piloting and rolling out new features in partnership with Microsoft experts and functional leads.
  • Act as the SmithGroup project manager for two OneVersion upgrades each year.
  • Design, build, maintain, and execute Dynamics functional and regression automated test plans for upgrades and changes using test automation software tools.
  • Configure and maintain D365 Dataverse environments and deployment pipelines. Manage custom solutions and solution layering across environments.
  • Extend platform capabilities through the creation of new entities, forms, plugins, apps, dataflows, workflows, and reports.
  • Represent Dynamics 365 across all phases of the Solution Delivery Life Cycle - from requirements gathering through development, testing, and implementation - including technical guidance for related systems on Dynamics integrations.
  • Contribute to the organization's Dynamics roadmap, including identifying opportunities to integrate AI-driven workflows.
  • Drive the ongoing evolution of the Dynamics platform connecting client, project and financial data to allow the organization to run more efficiently, scale effectively, win more business and make decisions based on real-time information.
  • This role has the potential to evolve into a lead position overseeing financial systems and its vendor management along with the integration of AI into financial workflows and financial reporting.

An ideal candidate has:
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications, including CE, Project Operations, and Finance and Operations (F&O).
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a Microsoft Dynamics administrator role.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Technology, preferred
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Experience configuring and supporting Dynamics 365 applications, including security roles and production operational processes.
  • Experience with Power Platform and Dataverse.
  • Experience designing and maintaining automated functional and regression tests with Leapwork or a comparable enterprise test-automation platform.
  • Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Relevant functional and/or technical D365 certifications.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI and SharePoint Online preferred.
  • Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with vendors and managed service providers for ongoing application support and development.
