Job Title: Digital Workplace Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Digital Workplace Engineer to join our IT team at client's location in Kinston, NC. This role is responsible for the design, deployment, management, and support of all end-user computing devices, collaboration tools, and the overall digital employee experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in end-user technology coupled with a solid understanding of networking principles, IT infrastructure components, and cybersecurity best practices. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficient operation of our digital workplace environment while collaborating closely with network, infrastructure, and security teams to enhance productivity and user satisfaction. You will also have to support the users adjust and adapt to the new solutions that will be deployed over the coming months.

Key Responsibilities:
End-User Support & Troubleshooting:
  • Provide timely and effective technical support for all desktop, laptop, mobile devices, and associated peripherals, including hardware, software, and collaboration tools.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), applications, and network connectivity within the digital workplace.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights in accordance with security policies, focusing on a seamless user experience.

Digital Workplace Technology Management:
  • Image, configure, and deploy new and replacement desktop, laptop, and mobile systems.
  • Manage and maintain endpoint management solutions (e.g., SCCM, Intune, Jamf) for software distribution, patch management, inventory, and policy enforcement.
  • Administer and support collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, video conferencing solutions).
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for digital workplace support, deployment, and management.
Network & Infrastructure Understanding:
  • Troubleshoot basic network connectivity issues (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi) impacting end-user devices and digital workplace services.
  • Understand network topologies, VPN configurations, and cloud connectivity to assist in resolving user access problems.
  • Collaborate with network and infrastructure teams on projects and incident resolution impacting the digital workplace and end-user services.
  • Assist in documenting network and infrastructure configurations relevant to digital workplace support.
Cybersecurity Focus:
  • Implement and enforce endpoint security policies and configurations (e.g., antivirus, anti-malware, encryption, DLP, MFA) across the digital workplace.
  • Respond to and assist in the remediation of security incidents involving end-user devices and accounts.
  • Educate users on cybersecurity best practices and promote a security-aware culture.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., aerospace-specific, CMMC if applicable) and company security standards for all digital workplace technologies.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of hardware inventory, software licenses, and support activities in the IT service management (ITSM) system.
  • Create and update technical documentation, user guides, and knowledge base articles for digital workplace technologies.
  • Generate reports on digital workplace performance, user satisfaction, and support metrics.
Project & Collaboration:
  • Participate in IT projects related to digital workplace upgrades, migrations, new technology implementations, and employee experience initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with other IT team members, business units, and vendors to deliver effective digital workplace solutions.
  • Champion the adoption of new digital tools and practices to improve productivity and collaboration.

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a desktop support, endpoint engineering, or digital workplace role, preferably within a large enterprise or manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in supporting and troubleshooting Windows (10/11) and macOS operating systems. iOS and Android experience is a plus.
Experience with endpoint management tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Jamf).
Strong understanding of Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, and identity and access management (IAM) concepts.
Experience with Microsoft 365 suite administration (Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange Online).
Networking: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and wireless networking concepts. Ability to perform basic network troubleshooting.
Infrastructure: Familiarity with server virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), cloud services (e.g., Azure, AWS), and general IT infrastructure components.
Cybersecurity: Knowledge of endpoint security principles, antivirus/anti-malware solutions, data encryption, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and incident response basics. Familiarity with security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, CMMC) is a plus.
Experience with scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation of digital workplace tasks is desirable.
Familiarity with ITIL or other ITSM frameworks.
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with an ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
