Job description

Role Overview

Eastman Kodak Company is looking for a Manufacturing Technician to join our Wide Roll Film Manufacturing division located at the Eastman Business Park in Rochester, NY. 

The principal responsibilities for this position are (1) day-to-day manufacturing support (quality, troubleshooting, and testing) of products, (2) maintain and upgrade laboratory equipment, (3) participate in multidisciplinary teams on new product development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have prior experience with optical and physical characterization of polymers in a roll-to-roll manufacturing environment. The position suits a person who can both see the big picture and is interested in the detail of how things happen. This is a hands-on role focused on quality system execution rather than full system ownership. 

Responsibilities: 
Independently perform laboratory activities, including but not limited to: sample preparation, laboratory cleaning, maintenance / monitoring / calibration of equipment, optical / physical evaluation of thin films and coatings, and generation of reports 
Work with Operations and Engineering on new and existing products to ensure outgoing product quality through end-to-end oversight 
Review test results and quality records for completeness and compliance prior to final approval by Engineering 
Support product complaint investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to quality deviations 
Work directly with Engineering to scope, draft, and execute experiments 
Collaborate with Operations and Engineering to optimize manufacturing of new and existing products to improve product quality and cost 
Develop new test methods to support manufacturing and new business initiatives 
Create and maintain SOPs, WIs, and CAGs based on current operations and best practices 
Participate on multidisciplinary teams to achieve divisional goals 

Required Skills / Experience: 
Experience with optical microscopy and visual inspection techniques 
Experience executing bench-scale experiments for coating evaluation 
Good time management skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously 
Experience with Design of Experiment tools and statistical methods. Microsoft Suite and VBA knowledge are a plus 
Ability to trouble shoot instrument performance and make simple electronic repairs 
Able to work safely and cleanly in a laboratory environment 
Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills  
Ability to work independently as well as in teams that include operators, mechanics, chemists, management and engineers 
Willingness to learn and to work hands on as needed 
Adaptable to changing conditions and priorities. Potential for role to assist manufacturing operations off-hours as needed 
Effective verbal and written communication skills 

Minimum Education Requirements: 
Associate Degree or minimum 4 years practical experience in manufacturing quality control
