Description:

The Adjunct Instructor โ€“ Microbiology Laboratory is responsible for delivering high-quality synchronous instruction in a virtual or hybrid laboratory environment. This includes guiding students in the application of microbiological techniques, laboratory safety, data collection, and analysis related to microorganisms and infectious disease.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:


  • Deliver live, scheduled online or laboratory sessions and actively instruct during all assigned meeting times
  • Demonstrate and explain microbiological laboratory techniques, including aseptic technique, microscopy, culturing, staining, and microbial identification
  • Guide students through virtual simulations, demonstrations, or hands-on lab activities (as applicable)
  • Teach laboratory safety protocols, including proper handling of biological materials and adherence to safety standards
  • Design and implement laboratory assessments, including lab reports, practical exercises, and data analysis assignments

Requirements:
  • Masterโ€™s degree in microbiology, biology, or a closely related field required; individuals with a masterโ€™s degree in another discipline may be considered with evidence of at least 15 semester credits in microbiology or a related field
  • Demonstrated laboratory experience in microbiology required
  • Experience teaching laboratory courses at the college level preferred
  • Clinical or healthcare laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience with virtual lab platforms or simulation tools is a plus
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
