Key Responsibilities
Day-to-day responsibilities of this position:
- Processing specimens for laboratory analysis
- Performing molecular and serological based assays
- Perform necropsy of animals for Rabies testing
- Performing test validations
- Drafing, writing, and/or updating SOPs and grants
- Evaluating quality control and performing corrective actions
- Performing instrument maintenance
- Troubleshooting interfaces between laboratory equipment and laboratory information systems.
- Monitoring testing processes for accuracy and timeliness
- Communicating with Epidemiologists and local partners.
Qualifications
Minimum or "day-one" qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field or 4 years of closely related experience.
- Previous experience working in a clinical or research lab
- Previous experience with PCR
- Good Communication Skills
- Pass a criminal background check
- Must meet CLIA education requirements for testing personnel in high complexity testing labs.
Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:
- Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science or related field
- Previous experience in performing immunoassays
- Previous experience in performing Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
- Basic knowledge of Molecular Biology
- Basic knowledge of Medical Microbiology
